"The homeless may not have walls to put art on but that is no reason not to own art. I believe owning art warms the heart and put smiles on faces." -Shirley Jones
The Big Blue Box Project is a community art project that brings together local artist, youth and members of the community to create art boxes/hygeine kits for homeless community members. The purpose of the project is to engage community members, increase awareness of the problem of homelessness and provide works of art to people in need.
The project hopes to enlist community members to create 500 boxes filled with art on the inside and outside. The boxes will be filled with artwork of all mediums including poems, drawings, paintings, songs and stories. A small hygiene kit of useful items like toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, sanitary supplies and socks will also be included.
